The old Cybersurfer modem finally died, after being on continously for 8
1/2 years - when it died, it melted the rubber feet and made a gooey mess
on the computer table, a dramatic death.

At first I was pissed that I could either make the Ware-Court trip to
exchange, or wait 11 days for TW to come here. Then I reasoned that they
don't really have to do a home visit, and the "window" when they do come
is pain in the ass anyway. So I treked out to TW and picked up a new
SB5100, which works right out of the box. Yanked the power on the
router/WAP/firewall/print-server box, plugged in new cable modem, waited
a few minutes, reconnected power to router and everything is good to go.

One question - is the PC Activity light supposed to continously blink
orange?

As for TW service, I wished all my electronic stuff would work perfectly
for 8 1/2 years...

Yes-all the new modems do that. You are seeing all the different types of activity the modem sees. It does not mean somebody is contacting you. It is more of a network overhead indicator. It shows you that your RR connection is alive and in touch with Ware Ct.
