Is anyone else having problems in south clairemont? This is the third
night in a row that I've had problems staying connected.
The cycle goes something like this:
normal operation.
activity light stops blinking
modem reboots.
power light on, flashing recieve light.
sometimes send and online are lit, then back to flashing receive.
back to normal operation. (takes anywhere from a few minutes to an hour
to get here)
after a small amount of time, activity light stops, and the whole cycle
starts over again.
Signal quality as reported by the modem appears to be fine. Downstream
S/N is 37dB. However I did catch it at 17dB just a few minutes ago right
before it lost it's connection again.
I get entries in the modems log that look like:
050831043057 7-Information H501.6 HFC: TRC SYNC Recovery OK
050831043056 3-Critical H501.4 HFC: LOST TRC SYNC- trying to
recover
050831043056 7-Information H501.12 HFC: FEC LOCK recovery OK
050831043056 7-Information H501.15 HFC:FEC LOCK recovery OK
050831043056 3-Critical T5.0 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure
- Loss of Sync
The modem is an SB3100.
I do a lot of work from home, so having all my ssh sessions dropped every
10 minutes or so is very frustrating.
I did just notice that the tech support line is supposed to be open 24/7
now. Guess I'll have to give them a call.
