Well, My wife's computer just came up with a message that the EZ Armor that
we installed is not out of date. And they want $49.95 to update the damn
thing. Hmmmmmmmmm, I thought that RR advertised that this is a free add on
to my RR account?? Since I'm paying $45 a month that is the least they can
do. Well, F**K them......I guess I am going back to my old AV software....
Anyone else experience this bait and switch???

One time I wanted to try one of the free game offers, but I would have
had to load some things that I didn't llike (might have been flash,
but it was so long ago I can't really remember) so I never tried
anything after that..

However, if you are looking for a decent AV program, there is a free
version available from www.grisoft.com, reasonably highly rated. Click
on produts > avg free edition

I'll second this. Also, the Yahoo toolbar with anti-spyware is free and
seems to work pretty good at detecting malware. fwiw...

It's possible the initial software is free, and the renewal of updates
costs money. Most software that rots is sold the same way. Kind of like
shareware versions that have size limits on the files you can save and such.

Yeah, what I experienced is RoadRunner offering EZ Armor free for ONE YEAR.
If you have had it for ONE YEAR, then you should delete it because it is
certainly not worth buying. Another thing that I have seen is people
installing the software without going through the steps to make sure they
get their FREE ONE YEAR. So, CA thinks they have a trial version and now
have to pay.

Good Luck,

Carl

I checked out the RR help site FAQ on EZ Armor. I found this in
question/answer #6:
"What if I cancel my my Road Runner Service?
eTRUST EZ Armor is being offered to you free because you are a Road
Runner customer. As long as you are Road Runner customer, you can stay
protected with EZ Armor, free. If you cancel your Road Runner service,
you will have the option of renewing your free EZ Armor subscription
for the normal fee of $29.95 per year."

if you don't try one of the other free ones, have you tried the
registration process over again to get another license key?

Yes, I had saved the keys to make it work and they no longer work. I just
went back to Norton and Zone Alarm......Also. Microsoft Antispyware Beta,
Adware SE.
this seems to keep me safe and clean.
