I have been using Norton Internet Security and firewall and antispam
since it first came out. When I installed Windows XP Pro because if
you play around with your computer too much, you have to reinstall it,
I decided to try what was advertised as Free antivirus software.
I recognized the interface of the firewall as Zone Alarm. I don't know
the other stuff as I have been using Norton for so long (since I did a
beta test on NAV for Win 95 pre release).
I had several web sites that I couldn't see what I needed. It blocked
out so many pictures that I couldn't see what I needed to navigate.
Buy.com was one. HP to get drivers was another. I started playing with
the settings until I found that I couldn't get any internet connection
unless I shut down the firewall.
If I restarted the computer I could get some use back but I couldn't
get normal use back. So I uninstalled it. I found that sometimes when
I restarted my computer I had to keep telling it what programs to
allow over and over again.
Before I go back to Norton, I would like to see what I can find out
here. It's been a frustrating few days.
Thanks,
