Ever since this last Saturday Nov 12th, my net connection after about 10PM is very
inconsistent. Connect to the net will go out for 15-30 minutes..get back to normal
and then do the same at random intervals.

I'm not sure if it's a problem at this location. At the same time I've been seeing
my RR TV showing bands of distortion too.

It's really becoming annoying and regular since last Saturday...usually 11 PM onwards.

I'm wondering if there could be a general overall reason with RR at this time...sunspots?

Please check into it if you can.

Thanks

We don't see anything on our end. I've scheduled no maintenance in
Coronado for a while.

Don't know if this is related. I was experiencing the exact same
behavior (Scripps Ranch). At certain times the connection would go out
for a few minutes up to an hour or more, then come back normally.

Edwin checked the downstream signal level at my cable modem, and found
it was marginal, -15.5 dBmW. I think nominal is supposed to be +/- 15
dBmW.

Turned out the problem was my faulty (high insertion loss) 2 GHz cable
splitter at my cable modem / cable box junction. Replaced it with a
different 2 GHz splitter, signal jumped up to -2 dBmW, and now all is
well. The problem hasn't recurred since. The cable TV picture is more
stable, too.

Seems to me that the dropouts were happening mostly at times like late
evenings, weekend mornings, and after-school afternoons when local users
might be stressing the local network with games or other high-bandwidth
uses.

Makes sense, I guess. With a marginal signal, a slight drop would knock
out the connection, and a slight rise would bring it back.

Maybe that helps,

Thank MT, I'll check into that possibility.
