An Open Letter To Time Warner Cable San Diego

#1 I don't care that this is Roadrunner. I call the same phone number
and pay the same bill for both services.

I have digital cable and the box has the programming schedule. I
recently got a Media Center Computer that has a Guide feature that
surpasses TWC's by a mile. Maybe even a kilometer. The program
descriptions are sparse on many shows. Take the news shows and 60
minutes shows for an example. On TWC they only have a genre listed,
nothing specific. The Media Center Guide has it all.

Let's say that I want to see the listings for the movies on the UCSD
channel on 18. It is noon Saturday and I want to see the listings for
the evening session of old movies. I CAN'T! I can only see the
listings for the Hallmark Channel!

Frequently, especially on weekends, I don't see the shows that I
expect at the right time. Doing a little research on the Internet I
find that the schedule is for east coast shows and I am watching the
west coast feed.

So, lacking a forum for directly addressing Time Warner Cable San
Diego TV, I am using this because virtually everyone here subscribes
to the cable TV.

So, please call your cable operator and make the complaint. One voice
is a nut. Many voices is a movement.

While I am at it, with several hundred channels available, please
request a NASA full time channel before the next major space mission.

Thank you.

This is just some humor here, a kilometer is shorter than a mile. :-)

You're right. I multiplied 1.61 the wrong way.

BUT:

Why does no one comment on the core issue?

You must be new here. I was giving it a breather. :-)

I'm guessing other than you, everyone already knows my stance of TWC's gross
abuse of their government protection from competition. Yes.. that's right,
our government is protecting TWC in San Diego from any form of competition
what so ever. What is TWC's incentives to provide you with anything other
than the bare minimum required by law and regulations?

I can't address your core question, because although I get digital, I
don't think I get the Guide feature.

But, in case it helps, I'll tell you how I get my programming
information: zap2it.com. Accurate listings, good configurability, and
a search tool that looks ahead a couple of weeks. It's free.

I think that the guide comes with the digital package. Anyway, i do
like the ability to be able to click on a program and it appears on my
screen. Additionally, I will click on a movie or program in the future
and it comes up at the scheduled time, thus augmenting my increasingly
failing memory.

But as to the core issue, there is a less than accurate tv schedule
included with TWC digital cable. Somewhere in my $120 bill I am paying
for that.

Thanks for the answers.

There's not much I can do to help, but I can commiserate. The digital movie
channels (I now have HBO, switched from Cinemax) are unwatchable during most
hours of the day and early evening. The picture constantly breaks up and
freezes even though the audio will continue playing normally. Also, the box
itself will suddenly "reboot" during a channel change, bringing up the
loading screen with the little progress dots. This happens to me about once
every couple of weeks, and I watch less than five hours of television a
week. How often it happens for the TV watchers in the household, I don't
really know.

Hell, at least your box WORKS!

I picked up a digital box (digital is cheaper by several dollars
over non-digital, when you have RR), but when I got home and
hooked it up, NONE of the RR phone numbers worked.

Once the phones DID come back up, I tried to activate the box.
No go. Tried several times over about 30 minutes. Still nothing.

Called tech support, he worked with me for about 30 minutes,
called me back twice after that, and finally agreed to send
a tech (because I'd spent an hour in line AT the TWC office
just to GET the box), but not til Friday.

Agreed! and long overdue.
