Buy your own cable modem? COX or RR? Who's better?

I'm sure this has been asked and I've called RR in the past about it too but
want to know if things have changed. Is RR still not giving credit if you
purchase your own cable modem? If so I feel that is not fair and is very
wrong of TimeWarner RR service.

I've heard that COX allows it's cable subscribers to purchase their own
cable modem for @ $40 -$70 and then the service is @ $20-$35. Just estimates
on the cost, I guess I could verify but why bother when I'm stuck with RR.
Does anyone have any pros and cons between the COX and RR? Any and all
opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Curious,
DJ

RR is worse. No matter who you compare them to.

The only thing that RR is better than Cox is getting your bill to you on
time.

How can you get a choice? Either TW services your house or Cox does. That
sorta limits your options.

Getting rid of RR would be worth moving.

I know people that will not buy a house unless it is in a Cox area. Talk
about priorities. It's important to me, but not *that* important. Guess
that's why local TWC/RR is still in business, huh? If it truly were a free
market they would be force to be competitive or out of business.
