news.san.rr.com was good for quite some time, but in the last few weeks
has deteriorated again.

xnews reports alt.binaries.multimedia is only 27% complete. Almost
every post has missing parts.

It's ALL usenet, not just RR.

I'm not sure what you mean. Usually completion problems are due to
either your ISP service, or the feeds to your ISP's servers.

Is there some metric of overall usenet completion that you are
referring to? Typical metrics employed by posters include the
completion rate at pay services like easynews.

Users on EVERY news service I know of are all complaining.

It started about Wednesday last week, and is slowly getting better.

I use Agent Premium News, which is a subset of SuperNews.
I've read multiple complaints in many of the binary groups.
It's not just RR.

Yesterday your post goaded me into sampling alt.binaries.multimedia
via my Adelphia-outsourced to Giganews- acct. I wouldn't know from
"metrics" which you had referred to in one of your replies, but here
it is graphically:

I'll soon be part of nycap.rr.com, as Adelphia fades away =
do you guys @san.rr.com have access to other rr.com regional news
servers?

TIA

That's interesting, thanks. Looks like Giganews is not having the same
completion problems we are.

servers?
Not that I know of.

. I wouldn't know from
"metrics" which you had referred to in one of your replies, but here
I came accross the word "metric" used that way twice today so I
thought I would look it up.

It is a fancy way to say "a new measure" or "a new paradigm". Since
the first was on KPBS and it was a college professor, I would assume
it is a $20 word, a bit expensive for my tastes.

It's a pretty common computer-industry term. Meaning an agreed-upon
standard for measuring something of interest, along with a procedure and
methodology for doing so. Nuttin' fancy about it. :-)

I guess that I am not as nerdy as I thought. I do use a pocket
