I figured I'd check to see what kind of headers
the spam I get had.

I checked 300 spam emails, and got this...

38 had headers forged to say they were coming FROM
the very RR mail server they were connecting TO.

A trivial fix that RR EMail Admins WON'T do.

87 had headers forged to show they were coming
from different servers, almost ALL of them saying
they were in a totally different part of the world
from where they were claiming to be from.

ALSO easily rejected by RR, IF they wanted to!

SO more than 1/3 of our spam COULD be easily
eliminated by RR, if they wanted to do it.

Another 3 messages actually came from RoadRunner
customer systems, 2 of them business customers.

RR HQ apparently STILL has abuse people who
DON'T know how to read a simple email header.

:(

My private mail server is configured the way you think it should be. It's
pretty damn tight. But of course, only the "professionals" are allowed to
run mail servers. Us end users are too stupid to know anything about
security.

Do I undertand you correctly? You are saying the RR folks are either
stupid or mean?

I think you are giving them undue credit. They're /MUCH/ worse that that:
they're AOL'ers.

No, I DIDN'T say that.

But you can, if you like. I won't disagree with you.
