Comparison: RR to DSL

I am so p.o. with RR that I will probably switch to SBC DSL at 14.95/month.

At least I would be able to get some internet connectivity. My RR connection
has been intermittent for 3 weeks. I spend my day unplugging and plugging my
cable modem. Even that does not help some times.

The service technicians show up, scratch their head and say: Yup, an
intermittent connection. Then they go home. For this I pay 49.95??

How does SBC DSL compare to the RR? Any horror stories over there, too?

Would appreciate any input

Well, at least your post to the newsgroup showed up. Or, is this your 5th
attempt?

Check out www.dslreports.com.

I doubt you'll want to switch after reading there.

Are you struggling with the same issues I've been having? Sometimes it's
on, sometimes it's off, sometimes it acts like it's on but you get worse
than dial up speeds with lots of failures, but most of the time it is dead?

I scheduled an appointment to have someone come out and look at my cable
modem. This situation you just described greatly concerns me. With my
luck, they'll look the moment it is good service and turn their heads as it
goes bad, I'll point it out, they'll say something, as I insist and they
turn their heads it'll go to crap again. Of course I don't know that so
I'll keep my appointment with them but I am very concerned that it's going
to happen. Your story is making more concerned.

Most people I know prefer cable modems over DSL. Most people I know with
Cox never complain at all, pay less for their service, get credit for owning
their own modems, and get more services for their money. Most people I know
that are RR customers have complained about one thing or another with their
RR service. You do the math. Buy a new house in a Cox area. Your Internet
issues will go away.
