Why is roadrunner blocking http access to www.infowars.com?

I connected to my own datacenter with vnc and checked my NS servers and I
can access the sites in my services at Level 3 so I don't understand why I
can't get to this site through road runner?

I received an email which states that this site is intentionally firewalled.

Please advise....

Why do you even GO there?

And no one is blocking access,
the site doesn't HAVE a working DNS entry.

THAT is the fault of Alex and his host, NOT RoadRunner or Time-Warner.

I don't, but why should you care? Regardless of why anyone would want to go
there, you might want to ask why RR is sensoring our what we can read. That
is a bit alarming.

Really? You might want to check that again. Here's the IP address so we
can remove all doubt regarding faulty DNS. 67.19.213.18 Give it a try and
post your success.

I can access the domain name and IP address from two other ISPs but cannot
from RR. A tracert shows it stopping at the AOL level. Whatever that
really means.

Exactly how did you determine it was a DNS issue on the other guy's behalf?
On a hunch?

My tracert sucessfully got out of atdn.net but failed in verio.net.

I was being conservative. I've never taken the time to understand the
subtle implications of the results of tracert. I see the final stop as an
edge condition. But on what side of that edge does it fall? I dunno and
didn't want to imply much more.

Do you know what Verio's role is in this? I'm guessing it's related to
N.A.B.'s other post.

I think it is directly related to N.A.B.'s post, which I hadn't seen when I
did my tracert. :-)

Here are the relavant parts of the the tracert:
10 66.185.150.83 18ms 18ms 19ms TTL: 0 pop1-sjg-P1-0.atdn.net
11 129.250.9.41 19ms 20ms 19ms TTL: 0 snjsca04.us.bb.verio.net
12 No Response * * *

You can see that verio replied so the trace was still progressing outside
the RR/AOL world. The edge that is broken is either within verio.net or
between verio.net and someone else. Since it is fairly unusual to hit only
one system in a domain, I suspect Verio has denied traffic to Cognet. It
is fairly normal when there is a major problem to take proactive steps to
minimize the impact on your network. Sometimes when something is broken it
generates more traffic than when it is working properly!

Makes sense. In terms of consumer base, what is the scope of the Verio and
Cognet issue? If it's not an RR problem but affects all of RR, who else is
also affected?

I have no idea how many customers (either surfers/browsers or web sites)
are impacted by the issue. I think N.A.B.'s post indicated it was a Level3
Cognet issue. I'm not sure I would sully Verio as they are likely a victim
of the impass, albeit as a bandwidth provider, hardly a disinterested
party.

We may never know what really transpired nor the resolution.

By the way. I'm in no way supporting the site you're trying to reach but I
do take serious offense to TWC sensoring our internet usage. I found a
daily mirror of infowars and possibly another but I'm not sure.
http://dailymirror.web-log.nl/
http://infowars.net/

I would suspect that it won't take long for someone to put up complete
mirrors or even set up a proxy to get around TWC's sensorship.

Thanks. Sometimes my fingers think they know English better than I do.
It's like a typo in a way. At work we deal with sensors so my fingers are
too familiar with that word. :-)

Is this problem fixed? I clicked on the www.infowars.com link and my
browser took me right to it. I have also been to that site many times
before because I do a lot of political debate online and some people use
that site as a reference to points they are trying to make.

If Time Warner was ever actually blocking it, it started in the last year
and had ended by 8:00 PM today (06 OCT 2005).
